Andy BarlowI really, really, really hope you don’t censor your FB page and have the courage to retain / publish all comments - be it negative or positive. If not, one would be lead to believe that your writing is purely commercially driven as opposed to writing for integrity. As such, I’d simply like to say (as nicely as I can), your column is the most low brow, trivial, ill-written, pedestrian content I’ve ever encountered. No wonder the broad sheets are going out of business. Honestly, it’s that bad, you should be ghost-writing teen romances or freelancing for “Girly Monthly” magazine. You make Pamela Anderson, Wonder Woman and the girl who turns the letters around on “Wheel of Fortune” look like geniuses. Despite you don’t look a day older than 22, you write with the air of someone that has a life-time of experience under their belt. It’s naive and popularist. But, then again, good on you for having a go. If your subject matter wasn’t ice-cream for the lowest common denominator, I’d give you some credit.

Trolls I have little patience for, but your feedback seems to be a little more considered than the usual bile so I’ll take a moment to retort. Andy BarlowWell … now that you mention it, maybe I was a tad harsh (actually, I was pretty harsh now that I’ve re-read). The thing is, the whole, “throw darts at the guy” thing really erks the hell out of me, especially as its an easy sell for the papers. So I suppose I’ll fess up and admit there’s a healthy does of resentment in my assault on your work. I do think you have a unique, personlised style though. Maybe better put to use on some other subjects? Do you do any other writing ….?

Katherine Feeney I’m not sure I’ve ever advocated for blokes to be used as a dart board, but thank you for response and your comments about my style. I do plenty of other writing actually - I’m a full-time journalist with the brisbanetimes.com.au and have covered all manner of subjects.
